Movema shares culturally diverse dance in performances which bring people together to celebrate understanding, tolerance and unity between communities.
Inspired by mythical and symbolic birds from different cultures, Movema’s Taking Flight brings together four fabulously costumed winged performers with storytelling, world music and dance to explore themes of migration and belonging in a fun and family-friendly outdoor performance.
The show features a giant bird’s nest and four bird characters, each one inspired by mythical and symbolic creatures from different cultures: the Phoenix from China, the Peacock from India, the Sankofa bird from Ghana and the Liverbird from England.
Taking Flight is touring from May 2027.
