Under the Artistic Direction of Choreographer Tamsin Fitzgerald, 2Faced Dance is an all-male contemporary dance company creating innovative, distinctive and aspirational dance works that tour across the UK and internationally.
2Faced‘s performances tell powerful stories that connect with diverse audiences in theatre settings and at outdoor festivals. Beyond the stage, the company is deeply committed to nurturing the next generation of dance artists, cultural leaders, and engaged audiences, delivers workshops in schools, colleges, universities, and prisons, and offers inclusive classes at the company’s Centre For Movement, their studio base in Hereford.
2Faced is currently touring three works on the outdoor circuit. Fish Boy is an eco-themed piece for three performers aimed at 6-10 year olds about a lonely little boy and his new friend, FISH. With a dramatic narrative explored on an evocative mirrored floor, Fish Boy‘s comic characters, athletic dance theatre, impressive aerial work and audience interaction brings to life ideas on recyclable materials, environmental action and problem solving.
In Last Orders, the male bravado of pub culture comes under the choreographic microscope for a disparate group of four men on a lad’s night out, with fake camaraderie, competitive drinking and aggressive posturing overlaying a desperate search for common ground. The dancing is athletic and high energy, the characters recognisably human, and the rock music soundtrack suitably pounding.
Before It’s Gone (pictured above) is 2Faced‘s latest work, a new duet which confronts the realities of climate change and celebrates human resilience and the power of collective action.
